Clary Solar Services

Residential solar solutions

Save money and be energy independent! A solar power system will dramatically lower or even eliminate your electric bill. In fact, a solar power system typically pays for itself in energy savings after 5-9 years.

Federal Tax Credit will pay for 30% of the system cost.

On October 3, 2008 the President signed the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008 into law. The bill extends the 30% ITC for residential solar property for eight years through December 31, 2016. It also removes the cap on qualified solar electric property expenditures (currently $2,000), effective for property placed in service after December 31, 2008. The bill allows individual taxpayers to use the credit to offset AMT liability, and to carry unused credits forward to the next succeeding taxable year. Click here to view more information about the tax credit.

Currently, the state of California pays for about 1/4 of the system cost. As part of Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger's Million Solar Roofs Program, California has set a goal to create 3,000 megawatts of new, solar-produced electricity by 2017.

“The California Solar Initiative offers cash incentives on solar systems - currently, $1.55 a watt for existing homes. California Solar Initiative incentives, combined with federal tax incentives, can cover up to 50 percent of the total cost of a solar system.”

Increase the value of your home!

A decrease of $1,000 in yearly energy consumption increases the value of the house by $20,000 (Appraisal Journal, October 1999). While a kitchen remodel increases the amount of property tax paid on the property, the value added by a solar power is exempt from property tax assessment.

Invest wisely for big returns

A solar power system on your home is a long term, low risk, high return way to invest your money. Solar offers an initial tax free annual return on investment from 30% to 40%. This is far higher than high risk investments such as stocks and bonds. As utility rates increase, the annual return increases.

Shield yourself from rising energy costs!

In 2006 the highest tier electric rates increased by 40% to 60% in California. Utility rates in California have risen at an average of 6.8% per year over the last 30 years. A solar power system will shield you from increasing energy costs by giving you control of how much you pay per month.

In many cases, the payments on the financing can be less than your current electric bill. As the cost of electricity goes up, so does your savings. Many of our use low rate home equity loan to pay for their solar system. However, we also offer five year financing options through Wells Fargo.

Reduce environmental impact.

Most of the energy on the grid today is produced in coal power plants. Generating electricity from clean, renewable solar energy reduces fossil fuel consumption and the emission of harmful pollutants. Even a small solar electric system has a significant environmental impact. For example, a 2.5kW solar system reduces CO2 emissions by an amount similar to that which would occur by planting 1 acre of trees, or the amount of CO2 emitted by a passenger car driving 7,800 miles per year.

Commercial solar solutions

Create Positive Cash Flow by installing a Solar Power System

It is not only about going green anymore, it’s about profit as well. With a solar power system installed on your building, you can eliminate your electric bill. The cost of ownership of a solar power system is far lower than the electric bill and with the price of electricity increasing, the savings will only increase with time.

Great Return on Investment

Government and state incentives will cover for nearly 78% of the cost of the solar power system that you will install. If you install the system in 2008, you will only have to pay 22% of the total system cost. You are looking at a double digit return on investment (ROI) with no risks associated. For businesses and public agencies, an investment in solar power can generate positive cash flow from the 1st day as well as huge long-term savings.

You pay only about 22% of your solar power system cost

The state of California will pay for 1/3 to 1/4th of the system cost

  • For Customers in the PG&E Utility Territory Commercial (includes agricultural and industrial) solar systems under 50 kW are eligible for a maximum $1.90/watt for rebate, based on system-specific design factors determined by the EPBB. Commercial solar systems 100kW and over are eligible to receive a PBI at $0.26/kWh.
  • For Customers in the SCE Utility Territory Commercial (includes agricultural and industrial) solar systems under 100 kW are eligible for a maximum $1.90/watt for rebate, based on system-specific design factors determined by the EPBB. Commercial solar systems 100kW and over are eligible to receive a PBI at $0.26/kWh.
  • For Customers in the SDG&E Utility Territory Commercial (includes agricultural and industrial) solar systems under 50 kW are eligible for a maximum $1.90/watt for rebate, based on system-specific design factors determined by the EPBB. Commercial solar systems 100kW and over are eligible to receive a PBI at $0.26/kWh.

Federal incentives will pay for 30% of the system cost

  • For solar systems installed from January 2006 through December 2008, the federal government offers an Investment Tax Credit (ITC) of 30% of the net system cost for commercial systems.
  • Government and non-profit systems are not eligible for the 30% ITC.

Equipment depreciation will pay for nearly 1/4 of the cost of the system

The federal Internal Revenue Code (IRC) has special depreciation provision for solar electrical systems. They can be depreciated on a 5-year accelerated schedule, or on the regular schedule.

Reduces green house gasses.

Generating electricity from solar energy reduces your consumption of fossil fuels, which decreases pollution and greenhouse gas emission. By switching to solar power, you will combat global warming and reduce our nation’s dependence on foreign energy sources. Even a small solar electric system has a significant environmental impact. For example, a 2.5kW solar system reduces CO2 emissions by an amount similar to that which would occur by planting 1 acre of trees, or the amount of CO2 emitted by a passenger car driving 7,800 miles per year.

Shield your business from rising energy costs

In California the cost of electricity has increased at a rate of 8% every year for the past 5 years. The energy rate increases are unpredictable for businesses. With a solar power system, a business can eliminate the exposure to rising electricity rates. The solar panels do not have any moving parts and therefore have zero maintenance cost. Solar panels have a life of up to sixty years. Imagine no electric bill till 2070.

Net Metering (sell electricity)

Net-metering is a concept in which a Utility has to purchase electricity from a client that has a solar power solution installed on its building/site. When the sun is shining and the solar power system is producing more electricity than the need of the client, the electric meter spins backwards and the client is selling electricity to the utility company in the form of credits. After the sun sets, the solar electrical system does not produce electricity and the client purchases electricity from the carrier. Therefore a solar power system does not require to have a battery or power storage system on their site. For an owner of a solar electrical system this arrangement is very helpful.

Time Of Use (TOU)

Time of use means that the customer pays more money for the same amount of electricity based on when the electricity is consumed. Peak hours are between 12 pm and 6pm and the cost of electricity is twice that of off peak hours. The solar power system produces more electricity during the high sun hours which is also the sun peak hours. Therefore enabling the customer to sell electricity at twice the price than what he will be buying back at. Please call our solar consultant at 888.on2.grid or (888).662.4743 to analyze your usage and how you can save money with a solar power solution.

What factors make a building suitable for installing a solar?

There are several factors that determine if your building is suitable for installing a solar power system. The three most important factors are listed below.

  • The amount of sun hours received by your geographical location.
Also known as solar isolation is the amount of sun light received by a geographic location in a typical year. Click Here to display the solar isolation for the United States.
  • Shading around the building.
Tall structures that restrict sunlight from reaching an installed solar panel. This can cause loss in power production by the solar panels. Panels should be installed at a location where there is minimal shading. To find solar shading we use several tools like aerial views, satellite views and detailed onsite suitability analysis.
  • Available area to install a solar power system.
Solar panels collect sunlight and convert it to electricity. A building site must have enough area to install the required number of solar panels.
