Atlanta, GA Solar Energy USA, a national solar company that offers the best products at the best price, recently finished a 2 day training seminar among offices of it’s national solar distribution and installation network. The sessions focused on the best practices of increasing energy efficiency among the residential and commercial markets including solar pv, solar thermal, solar attic ventilation, and T5 lighting.

At the end of the day we all concluded there has never been a better time than now to invest in clean, renewable, American made energy efficient advancements and solar technologies.

Solar Energy USA is a national company that offers the best products at the best price. Georgia is the home of our National headquarters. Our support system for the rest of the country is here in Alpharetta. Our goal is to help as many homeowners and business owners improve the performance of their homes and buildings. Solar Energy USA is an active member of the Georgia Solar Energy Association, American Solar Energy Society and International Solar Energy Society. We are active coast to coast as sellers, designers and installers of solar photovoltaic systems, solar thermal systems and commercial indoor lighting. We know that investing into solar panels is a big step and requires a good understanding of what you are purchasing, how it works, the benefits and the return on investment. And because it is such a high involvement process, we go above and beyond to make sure our employees are trained to answer your questions with the most knowledgeable answers and the latest insight on technologic advancements within the solar industry.

During our training sessions we discussed the use of micro inverters, a newer technology that enables the owner of the solar array the ability to remotely monitor system performance and output levels. We suggest micro inverters from Enphase Energy along with their stellar Enlighten monitoring software. We also talked about the advancements in panel efficiencies including standard rectangular mono and polycrystalline modules, thin-film technology, and solar shingles. Our discussions also revolved around commercial office energy efficiency and the sweeping changes coming from the federal government on light bulb fixtures and ballasts, specifically outdated T12 bulbs and ballasts. A federal mandate has already passed decrying that T12 bulbs and ballast can no longer be produced. The mandate also states that soon these T12 light bulbs and ballasts will no longer be sold. You can change out your entire fixture and replace everything with T8 technology which is newer but not very much more efficient, or you can do a simple retrofit to the exiting T12 fixture and change the old bulbs and ballasts to newer, much more efficient T5 adapters. T5 technology has been popular in Eastern countries for years because of the higher utility rates they pay overseas, but is just now gaining popularity in the US as power rates have steadily increased. The smart companies are realizing they can save thousands of dollars that directly reduce their fixed costs just by upgrading a simple light bulb. Additionally, we talked about all of the tax credits and rebates that are available for both energy efficient upgrades and renewable energy systems like solar pv and solar thermal. At the end of the day we all concluded there has never been a better time than now to invest in clean, renewable, American made energy efficient advancements and solar technologies.

Components: The Solar Panel is Only the Beginning

There's a lot to know when it comes to building and installing a solar power system.  The components that go into a system are like the parts on a car in that they all work together for the same ultimate goal, but the quality of each component can make a big difference in performance.

  • Guide to Choosing the Right Solar Installer

Guide to Choosing the Right Solar Installer

A solar power system is one of the biggest investments a homeowner will make, so it's important to make sure that everything is installed properly and built to last.  Components vary quite a bit in terms of electrical output, form factor and weight, but most panels will come with a 20-25 year warranty, making solar a long term investment, dependent on a strong foundation of a quality install.

  • Why Professional Solar Installation Matters

    Why Professional Solar Installation Matters

The age of the internet has also ushered in a new wave of DIY thinking.  Where in the past, information was a precious resource, today you can learn how to do just about anything with a couple strategic Google searches.   Just because you can learn how to do something, however, doesn't mean you should, and when it comes to installing a solar power system, or anything heavy you plan on putting on your roof, it's a good idea to always use the services of a professional installer.

What to Expect From a Solar Site Installation Visit

As you get a little closer to pulling the trigger on a solar power system, one of the final steps before actually purchasing a product is to have a professional installer come out to your home and do a site visit.  The purpose of this visit is to make sure your roof is appropriate for solar power, determine what kind and size of system you will need and then put together a quote that will show you the pricing and details of your new system.  While a good installer will walk you through this process, being a good consumer means having some solid information going into your site visit, so here’s a look at what you need to know before the installer arrives.

    About Solar Shingles

Green energy is a growing trend that helps the environment and can save you a lot of money over time.  Nearly every neighborhood in America will have at least one or two homes with solar panels on the roof, but some homeowners will resist adopting solar power simply because of the look of the panels.  Furthermore, although your homeowners insurance will cover your solar panels, installing anything onto your roof can often void your roof's warranty, discouraging some would-be solar converts.  This is where solar shingles come into play, and this new spin on a well-established technology makes a lot of sense for any homeowner considering the switch to solar.
